Crafted By People Who Care
My first boss told me something that has stayed with me through the years:
“The difference between a carpenter and a contractor is team building. Always surround yourself with the smartest people you can find.”
It turns out he was right. And it’s one reason I feel so proud of this company: a close team of people who have a passion for craft and never get tired of figuring out what goes into a truly fine home.

Ross was born into the building business, as his dad built and renovated homes in Connecticut. His earliest memories are of repurposing building materials from the family garage into forts and treehouses in the nearby woods. A proud grandad and assertive hockey player, Ross is a superb site superintendent. He’s been lead GC on some of our largest and most architecturally complex projects.

Ana was born in Brazil, and has lived in Canada, France, England, and Switzerland, where she studied business administration and hospitality—a field she’s never left, she likes to say, as “custom building is the ultimate hospitality business. ”Ana runs a tight ship as Office Manager, always on top of what every team member is doing at a given moment. She’s earned a rep as someone who simply won’t quit until the job is done right.

Before learning carpentry, Andy was a cook at an Alaskan fishing camp. In that remote, off-grid setting—running a generator to pump and boil river water for drinking—he saw how the whole camp could be seen through the lens of energy-in and -out. That experience has driven Andy in his tireless pursuit of improved performance, and an answer to the question, How can we make this even better?

A Nantucket native, Katelyn left for college in Colorado, where she also got her start working for a custom home builder, in Crested Butte. That place felt surprisingly familiar, with just one road in and one road out. The logistics of such constraints prepared her well for custom homebuilding back on the island. “At the end of the day," she says, "everyone just wants a really nice home. Finding that common ground is what it’s all about.”

Chuck followed a girlfriend to Nantucket back in 1998, straight out of high school. He's been here ever since, handling our painting work and applying his fine attention to detail and keeneye for quality. Will tried for more than three years to make him a Project Manager before he accepted the offer, and we are glad he did. Always on the ball, Chuck helps run a farm in VA, raising 40 heads of grass-fed beef cattle.

Fletcher Bell grew up here, and left only long enough to earn a degree in Natural Resource Studies and Sustainability. He was drawn to building as a way to live out his commitment to resource conservation—and by an insatiable curiosity about how things work. We call him our Swiss Army Knife because he's versatile and does a lot of things pretty well. When not on site, you’ll most likely find Fletcher sharpening his game on the frisbee golf course.

Born and raised here, Andrea’s at home at the office and job site alike. Prior to joining us, she worked for five years at a local lumber yard. Her get-it-done attitude is a credit to her understanding that building is ultimately a service profession. Whether it’s caretaking or assisting with estimating, her customer service is exemplary. Happily married to her high-school sweetheart, she's the proud mom of two young children.

John thinks big. His background is in architecture, but he’s been involved in all phases of building—design, construction, and as owner’s rep for projects of every shape and size. His vast building experience includes a baseball stadium, a hockey arena, a high school, and a high-rise casino. He even rebuilt Walter Reed Hospital. As a Project Manager, his knack for zooming out and assessing the big picture is invaluable.
